The Banco Angolano de Investimentos is a pioneer in the Angolan private banking sector and is one of the most solid institutions in the country. BAI S.A. was created on 14 November 1996 by a group of investors, who wanted to create a successful Angolan bank. Despite its change of name on 14 November 2011, BAI’s values, vision and solid international presence and reliability are unchanged through its commitment to continuous contributions to the economic development of the countries in which it is present.
FINANCIAL DATA AND CONDUCT
BAI currently has 1538 employees, 85 Branches, 5 Business Branches and 10 Sub-branches, a total of 100 Customer Care Locations and more than 414,000 clients. The Bank’s net assets total USD 9 billion and it currently manages private funds with an estimated value of USD 761 million. The Bank’s Compliance Office and Clients Ombudsman, which ensure that the bank conducts itself in an ethical and responsible manner in accordance with the law and international treaties with regard to banking transparency, have been fully operational since June 2010.
The Bank´s constant concern with regard to the quality training of its employees and future senior staff, who will contribute to the economic development of Angola, led to the creation of the BAI Academy, which was inaugurated last year. The BAI Academy was envisaged not only in order to provide technical training but also to promote proper and ethical conduct. The Academy is located at Morro Bento, Luanda Sul and has a capacity for 120 trainees per training period. The budget for the construction of the building was USD 33.000.000,00.

BAI seeks constantly to innovate and to provide its clients with the best service, throughout 2011 the products launched by the Bank included, BAI Executivo, BAI Mobile Banking, BAI Premium and BAI Kamba, which meet the day-to-day requirements of our clients.
BAI’s strategy and business model has received recognition in Angola and all over the world. The Bank’s financial results, the solutions it offers, its optimization of relations, geographic expansion and contribution to development and transparency were some of the policies that led to BAI being awarded two World Finance Awards in 2010: Best Commercial Bank and Best Investment Bank. In 2011 “The Banker” magazine placed BAI at 686th position in the world TOP 1000 ranking, a rise of 25 places in relation to 2010. In Africa, the Bank advanced from the 24th to the 22nd position as a consequence of its international expansion policy it is present in Cape Verde, São Tomé e Principe and has a Representative Office in South Africa and it is also present in Europe.
In addition to its core business, BAI has supported the development of various sectors of Angolan society. BAI is in its 15th year of support for Art and Culture, BAI Arte, which is a cultural patronage programme, which is now in its 12th season. Sport has also merited the attention of the institution, which sponsors BAI Basket and other sports. The Paediatric Hospital, Hospital Neves Bendinha, the National Oncology Centre and Beiral are institutions that are supported by BAI.
